Bob, Coop or any one that can say if, and how expensive it would be to restore some 35MM slide photos. They are very old, (45 years, but still show a clear picture, but with "washed out" colors. All the details are clear, which surprised me. If they can be salvaged, there are a few that I want to make pictures of, and also put them into the computer storage, with other photos, etc. Any ideas?
Dick

I did a google search and came up with this site. Their rates seem pretty reasonable. Click on estimate your costs for the prices.

I put my old 8 milmeter films onto VHS with a unique proceedure. I would play the film through the projector at night and used my video camera to record the tape on the screen. It worked. I bet the same process could be used for slides and it sounds like you can take a frame from a tape beings you used this for images. See if this works. Color, well that would take a lot of editing in Photoshop. But you might like the slides on VHS for convience. If you have a CD recording motion camera that would work also. Just how I would do it.

There are quite a few companies out there just like the one Smed linked to. I had some old 35mm pictures restored about a year ago, and the procedure is fascinating, and the results were better than the real thing. Well worth spending the dollars for the memories.

Bob, and SMED, I used the link, and asked for the info re the slides, and what I want to do with them. I emailed them the things I want to do, and expect an email from them with the pertinant info. Then I'll act accordingly.
Coop, I would go your way, but Photoshop, and I are a LONG way from being close! I love to "improvise", but there is a limit to what one can do with very little, or nothing to work with! They are slides of the sweetest little 98 year-old lady I have ever known, and some slides of the folks, and other family members. That sweet old lady I mention was my Mother-in-law! They don't come any finer!
