I may be grabbing at straws here, but what does everyone think? Is there something there or just a coincidence of a series of die gouges/cracks vertically lined up? This is between the 7th and 8th column. Just left of the 8th column.
Thanks,
Rock

Rock, it's funny we should post two very similar posts, at the same time! Observe:
The difference is the date. Mine is 1996D-1DR-???, but the two things I noted in mine is a die clash, and the appearance of bars in so many bays.
There should have been a bar indicated in bay eight, as well.
Dick

Rock,
What you are referring to is on all Lincoln cents. It is part of the design element and is the column from the back of the memorial.
Dick,
I can't quite tell what you are pointing to.

I had thought about that Bob. But what kept me from dismissing it as the back of the bay was the angle of it, that it is not the full length of the column and that I can still see three distinct vertical lines. If you look at the 1st pic above going from right to left, you can see the 8th column then the long back column (not sure what it really is, but your right, that it is on all lincolns) and this is typically the widest on column 8, and then another vertical line or bar to the left of that. There are a couple of die pimples on and around it, but the line is distinct and seperable from the other 2. I'm going to hang on to it for a while and look at it again in a few weeks. Perhaps I will have a fresher perspective of it then. I have thrown out many a questionable items that way after coming back to them later. I wonder to myself, What in the world did I see or why did I keep that?
Thanks for the response.
Rock

Bob, The lines, (I finally found how to put lines there), are indicating essentially, the same thing that Rock has pointed out, and in my case, because they stand out so very much more than usually. I know where they are, and pretty well how much the stick out, but these are very distinct. On the photo, it is very hard to see. I[ll run them by again, with more resolution, and some cropping. Maybe It will show a bit more. I normally don't pay any attention to those areas for the reason you stated, but in this case maybe there is reason.

OK...I see what you are referring to. I would have to see the coin to verify what it is or what it might be. Is it possible to send it to me whenever I get to accepting packages again??

Thanks Bob, sounds like a plan. I'll make a note to remind myself in a month or so.
Thanks again,
Rock

Bob, I'm putting together a pkg, (not over ten coins), and when it gets close, I'll ask if you are ready for another, so we can co-ordinate the shipment. No need to over load the "receiving dock". I am about half way there.

I was talking to you Rock. What you stated is fine by me. Mark that one as one I want to see, collect a few more and let me know. I should be accepting packages (or scheduling them anyway) within a week or so.

bob, I want to show some wavy steps, but "I" have to have the view out of focus th see the "shadow", and also the crease at the base of the 11th, and 12th columns. This is a different view of the one I posted earlier. I can't see the "steps", unless the coin is upside down.
There are wavy steps, all the way across the stylobate, in the scope. The creases run about 180 degrees relative, (360 in the photo, as is).

Dick,
It is always advisable to turn the coin upside down to verify wavy steps. Of course, being able to see them in the first place depends on your lighting angle. I can see the fluting lines on your pics, so it looks like a good wavy step. As far as it being list-able, I would have to see it. They need to be relatively strong in order to list. You can judge the strength I am talking about by looking at some of those on the site.

Bob, I am saving that one for your inspection, later.
Here is a couple more shots>. Shows what one can do when trying to crop! It is a 1999D-1DR-001, with a bar: lenght of upper arm.
crude, I didn't know the small one had been resized! Wanna see it?

Dick,
Neat you added labels
Does the 99-d have the doubling on the inside tops of the bays and also a bar?
Then it would be a new one right?
(since 1DR-001 has no bar)

Ed, that's right. I spotted the'001 dopubling in the first few columns, and as always checked the statue, and there was a short, (upper arm lenght) bar. I tried to crop, and got a boo-boo instead, but I had already put lines, and thought I might try to label it, too. And the's what happened. I will be sending it to Bob, with some others, that are pending. Some 2007-P wavy steps
Dick
