I was looking at some 99-d cents (3 put together non obw rolls) to see if I could find this one that Dick mentioned finding a similar variety like it but with a bar.
http://www.coppercoins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2800
Out of the 3 rolls I found 6 coins and none have the extra bar and all 6 look like different dies and don't match the markers on the listed one.
So that means there's atleast 6 types plus the one Dick found with a bar plus the one on the site.
If there's 8 different dies wouldn't that mean these are probably master doubling?
I'll try to post some pics of these.......

Top is a close up showing what they all have.
The second pic is all 6 similar ones I found, I don't see and shared markers (other than 2 might be the same die) and some are stronger but all show in the tops of those bays so I'm assuming they're different.

If you take a look at the info on the site about these coins, you will see that I am not absolutely sure about whether these are actual doubled dies or not. Since I discovered the first one (a 1998D) over a year ago, I have been specifically looking for these. I have found them on 1998D, 1999D, and 2000D. I still don't know what they are, but the probabilities of finding them are vastly different. For the 1998D, I have found them on average of 1 in every 40 1998D coins. For 1999D, 1 in every 250 coins, and the 2002D, 1 in every 350 coins. Only time will tell what exactly causes them. It may be a design element. At this time, I just plain don't know.

What Bob said...
...plus, I've found so many 1998D & 1999D-1DR-001 cents that I quit looking for them. The ones I kept are all BU Gems. They are that common. I didn't know they could be found in 2000D so I will try to find a few of those now.
...as for what caused them...probably barn swallows. They look like barn swallow nests! They're in the right places.
