Gary, this will prove a point:

Note the grinder marks where the "nose was cut off to spite the face", and took part of the lips, as well.

First shot with new camera. The photos should improve over time

Congrats on the new camera Dick. I hope you enjoy it and can get real proficient. THese pics aren't too bad, but I don't see exactly what you are referring to. As far as 'grinder marks', do you mean where the die may have been polished to eliminate something like a clash?
You must remember that the die is incuse, meaning it is the negative of a struck coin. In order to polish away a defect or something inside the recessed areas of a coin is really very difficult.

check your focus a bit Dick.
good to see that after half the nite you got it to work.
if you get you lighting correct your pic's will need no touch up 80% of the time.but you have to get the focus down first.
good photo for the first though
Congrates
Gary

here is one of my first photo's with your camera

Bob, it is NOT on the die! It is actually on the coin. I have checked from every angle to prove it is die, but to no avail. The coin is as it came from the inside of the roll, as did the two ends that were damaged from the curling iron. That doesn't prove it did not come from the die. In this case, it is raw metal that shows. That is what got my attention. I will include it with the other coins I send, later, so you can see it.
I now have15 bars, 1 on the col. 6 side.
36 spiked heads.
18 clashes.
This is the sum total of 12 rolls, from Philadelphoa! I haven't that many "defects", in thousands of "D" cents. Funny thing is, those are the ones I have been collecting for years. I have been blessd!

Dick: If you are editing with Photoshop, check to see if you have RGB color selected instead of Grayscale. The grayscale will remove the color from the images.

Coop, I haven't tried to edit with any app yet. The photo was made with another camera application, and I didn't try to edit. It was just to try out the camera. That photo is the only one I have been able to get ! I can get the video from a video strip, "still frame Caqpture", but I can't get a still photo. I don't know what is wrong, but I am going to remove everything but the AOL files, and try again. I have been on this thing since 0900 this morning.
