I purchased this coin from a prolific ebay variety salesman because I have never seen it. He advertised it as a D over S variety which I did not believe but won the thing for 2 bucks anyway. Appears to be RPM#003 and in a pretty nice BU condition.

I think you may be correct, it sounds like RPM-3 from the description.
On ones listed on the site that don't have photos it might mean that they saw one but it was not nice enough to get photos. Yours is nice, maybe Bob could list it if you sent it to him... see what he says
Steven beat me with his link

Thanks for the link. I have to assume this is a scarce coin in mint state. Always fun to make a good buy. I will gladly send it in if desired.

I have never heard of a 1950 D over S variety before. The description for RPM 3 for the year states it should be a D/D southwest that is rotated CW. The pic in this thread is a very nice example of what appears to be an EDS coin. It is definitely worth inspecting and adding to the site. Off hand, I would say it is RPM 3, but definitely not a D over S.

Steven,
That is a good looking 50 d. You have brought new light to a new listing. Congrat's.

Just pulled James Wiles' book out on RPMs and it is a good match for RPM-003. The picture in his book is of a LDS coin, however, the mintmark positioning looks like an exact match.
