I reported a few days ago, the first known 1923P doubled die. Today, I have found what might be the first 1973P doubled die reverse. Once again, it is nothing spectacular, but it does show that the dates we have always assumed had little or nothing, might have some surprises for us yet. The nicest part of this particular variety is the notching on the R of AMERICA.

This might be the one listed in John Wexlers book "The Lincoln Cent Doubled Die".

Page 202.

Here's how he listed it:

1973 1-R-II
A close spread towards the center of the die shows on OF AMERICA, the designers initials and ONE CENT.

A die scratch runs from the I to the T of UNITED and from the T to E of UNITED.

Sounds like the same one. I din't think to look at any of John's cross reference material, but this definitely sounds like it. Thanks!!
