Well beings there is no such thing as "Mechanical" doubling, I would agree with the machine doubling you mention. You can see it on the upper loop on the West side of the mint mark. But the mark above the mint mark looks like a portion of the metal pushed or enhanced by your lighting. You need to filter the light a little to remove glare and then you will see if it is still there with the glare cut down. There is glare on all devices on the tops, so it might be nothing that appears to be something. Die wear/angle of un-filtered light can make a ski jump affect appear that is just part of an older die striking. So try to cut down glare/second hand glare and check it again.
