Good article in CW by Ken Potter on them. Two heavy hitters are DDO-001 at $500 in PF-65 and DDO-002 at $1000 in PF-65. This one also is an RPM to boot.

Very hard to find but worth it. Pics show substantial doubling in IGWT and Liberty.

Know your varieties BEFORE you buy. Many have bought a DD)-001 thinking it was the -002.

I see so many listings for doubled dies on e-bay that just say the year and mm. The picture is from to far away. I always ask for a fs or Breen # and failing that at least a close up. Sometimes I am told " it's not in any books and I can't get a better picture, but don't worry it is cheap". Yeah I'll bid. Then you get some people with great pics, correct attribution and they even mention the detracting features. I use the search by seller option and check there auctions weekly. Joe

Just thought about this...

I was watching one of the shyster coin shows on TV and they had some 1995 DDOs for sale. The numismatic "expert" took great pains in explaining that these coins were produced by being stamped twice in the coining press.

What a fornicating MORON.

Funny you should include the link to that 70S DDO Joe. I twice sent the man a nice letter wanting more info on the die, and I didn't even get the courtesy of a reply. Needless to say, he won't be getting business from me.

I want to bid on it coop. I just went back to work after a couple of months off. I start Monday actually. I am a union electrician and was just sent to the budweiser plant in Newark,NJ. If my wife lets me I would like to pick that one up. Embarassed
That 70S thou. How can he expect you to bid from that? As I said he told me it's not in any books and the proof in the salb has too much reflectivity for a close up besides, it's not to much money. One dollar is too much if it is not what you want. Joe

Joe: There are a lot of Doubled Dies on Ebay today. And as bad as I want them all, the $$ always hold me back. Most of the ones I could afford are in the 10-20 dollar range. I wouldn't mind paying that if they are priced right. Not sure if they are worth as much as some want or not Question Going back to take another look. Rolling Eyes
