You're right, the year 4292 in the Korean caledar corresponds to 1959 in the Christian calendar. Your second picture is upside down by the way.
Your coin is a 10 hwan coin. It's bronze and 100 million were made. The flower is a "Rose of Sharon". My 1999 Krause says it's $1 in fine and $2 in VF. It's a first year of issue of a 2 year type (1961 being the other).
Krause also says that these coins circulated as 1 won ("won" being the denomination) coins until they were demonitized and withdrawn from circulation on March 22, 1975.
I wonder what circulated in the years between the Korean War armistice (1953) and 1959?
