Just found this one recently and although it is not earthshattering, it is still a nice little RPM.



Yes, it does appear to have the slightest doubling on the tail of the 9, however, if it is a doubled die, it is way to minor.

BJ, that is a very interesting coin. It looks like the "9", and the "1" aw well might have a bit of doubling present. The "D" looks like it is "up-side down". I know, it woukd be backwards, but it appears as tho it is showing the heavier portion on the upper area, instead of on the bottom, where it is more common. Maybe it's my eyes!

so what year did they officially stop making RPM's per se? i hardly ever look at 1980's mint marks because i thought they stopped hand punching MM's in the 70's

They stppped hand-punching MM in 1989. the 1990 and on were a part of the working hub, *I think), and the working dies had the mm's. Don't quote me, but I believe this is fairly accurate.

They switched to punching in the mint mark on the master dies in 1990.

The position of this mint mark does not correspond to the position of 1988D-1MM-016

What I meant was the RPM looked like the 016. The location isn't the same as I should have posted. Nice Find BJ.
