I have now seen and understand how a class 6 ddr looks, but I do not underatnd what can cause the thickening? of the top of these letters. _________________ The opinions that I express do often reflect stupidity.
A couple of things could cause that. The first thing I would think of is die wear. The closer to the rim the larger the die flow line appear. The second is damage from circulation. I think yours suffers a little of both. The lines on the rim is a give away that something has roughed this coin up. This will flatten or make the devices appear wider. But usually die wear makes all of the devise wider, but on later die states (VLDS) the devices show more wear toward the rim. (IE: 1953-55 "So Called" poor amn's doubled dies.) But I think tampering with you coin is the best description of what I see on it. _________________ Richard S. Cooper

Only one thing causes that...die wear. Damage does not cause extra relief on a coin. _________________ C. D. Daughtrey
