1992P-1D0-001

Hello all i am writing this post to let you know how hard it is to find this NEW DISCOVERY of the 1992P-1DO-001. I only found (1) and I also think I found a (CLASS 2) varity that I sent to BJ Neff to look at. I had so may of the 1992 and that is all I found you would think you would see more then that. Anyone else find one of these DDO'S? As always the hunt is well worth it to see what you get for your $25.00 investment when you go to the bank to get rolls to search thru.

I sent the coins to BJ Neff so he could look at them both together and to let me know if what i have is it. Then when i get them back i will post pics.

Yes i found that one and another one that is different with the eye and eyelid. I sent both off to BJ Neff to compare them. I think they are HARD to find.

I rarely search any memorial cents after the early 70's dates because of what you experienced. If I search for hours on multiple days and do not find anything it feels like wasted time. I have much more enjoyment just searching wheaties and finding something interesting on a more frequent basis even if they are not worth a lot.

A phsychologist could probably have a lot of fun studying the different behaviors of the variety collectors.

Something to keep in mind is that over 5 1/2 BILLION 1992P mint cents were struck. In addition, there were 6 billion 1992D cents struck. I am sure there are more of that variety out there, but folks just don't search the more modern cents like they do the older wheaties.
Assuming the die that struck your variety went through a complete die life and struck a million copies, there is still the probability that you would have to search through 5500 cents to find one of these (and that's if they were perfectly mixed).

I had a well mixed bunch of 1992 cents (maybe 10 rolls) and I found none of these. They are not easy to find.

The same thing Bob said probably is true for the 92 close AM cents too, they made so many cents per die but there were very many dies so it's still a few in a billion. There must have been many close AMs but only a few are found. That's why it's interesting to see if they are from one die and if the markers change between examples. Some things never get solved, that giant 1958 DDO (worth hundreds of K$) has only 2 examples known but both are different die states so you wonder where are the rest of those!

It's a very big haystack so many needles can hide in it. LOL
