Otherwise known as Class VI Distended Hub Doubling (I think). I am very certain on the 1940. Not as certain on the 1946.

Your 1940 looks like a nice one. Smile

When you find class 6 DDO cents look at the E of WE and LIBERTY. Most have the ramp on the lower horizontal of E and the spines of the letters of liberty on most of them are curved.

The 1940 is pretty dramatic! Although I'm used to larger devices, I might even spot that one--I need to keep my eyes open.

So far, I have only found a class 6 doubling on an Australian halfpenny from 1943. This type of die doubling can be pretty interesting in its own way.
