This is not mine, but I thought IHC collectors would enjoy seeing this fascinating coin. This is a unique piece, and the reverse die has not been seen on another 1865 proof (graded PR-65BN by PCGS). I'll post a photo of the reverse when it becomes available.

An interesting detail of this photo is how it shows how the reeding extends from the normal dimensions of the IHC, ie the reeding is cut into the collar. You can read more on the Judd-403a posted here by Rick Snow.

That's amazing, the way the reeding lines up is cool! Cool

Rick Snow has a mint state 1863 reeded edge on www.indiancent.com now. Very nice coin and a nice photo. Thanks for sharing, Kurt!

Garry, thanks for mentioning the 1863--I missed that one completely. Too bad the reeding isn't shown in the pics. Confused

That is a very nice looking coin. It is much better than my 1859 IHC. Mine doesn't have the reeds. "they must have worn off"! Wink Tghanks for the link, and other info. I may be getting "my feet wet" there in the near furure. My order is on it's way.

Snow lists a reeded edge occasionally, it depends on the age of the holder. Only recently holdered coins will be placed in one that allows a view of the reeding.
