I just noticed this on ebay. I was watching a 1953 PCGS66 proof doubled die that did not sell at a buy it now price of $249.99 and this popped up. The photo is similar to the one in the date guide but not the same photo. However, the description "A nice clockwise pivot from K7... " is exactly the description in the date guide. Is the seller a member here? Any thoughts?

The 1962 Proof/BU coins had several of different DDO for that year like that. The site hasn't listed all of them yet. But I would not think they were anywhere near the price of the second auction. I think the seller is fish for a someone to bite on it for an inflated price and is fishing for a sucker at his prices.

You ask if possibly one of our members.....? Not likely. Someone who has looked at the site, and thought they migh sound technical, and informed, by using the description. The photo doesn't sjhow me anything that I would bid on, and expect ro get anything extbeing badly stung! This is synonimus with the old habit of leaving the doors unlocked, and not worry. After all a lock is not going to stop a thief, and the honest man would show the respect to others property, that is deserved. If I sound cynical, maybe it is some of the people one has to deal with, when buying!

Never heard of this person - means little though.

Be aware, however, that there are a plethera of 1962 proof cent doubled die obverses. I once bought a roll of 50 1962 proof cents, and 35 of them were doubled dies. They are common as a group, although finding all the different dies could be quite a challenge.

This particular coin does not appear to be original - it apperas to have had PVC on it at one time and wa not carefully removed. The coin just doesn't look right.

Without being positively identified to a listed die, I would hesitate spending a premium for it.
