When I initially found this, I thought the date was "repunched."
However, upon closer inspection I see doubling on other design elements (arrows). While unsure, I would guess by this date most "repunched dates" are actually doubled-hubbings of the die. Confused

There are about a half dozen of these 50 ore coins on ebay right now. At least one is clearly a repunched 4. That is at a buy it now of $9.95. There is another that is identified as a DDO but the photo is not clear enough to see where the doubling is. Of course there is no description of the coin either. Rolling Eyes

Thanks GarryN! I guess mine was an OK buy at $3.75 from the show, given the nice grade. The dealer thought it was a "repunched date", but I suspect it's simply a doubled die. I doubt anyone is punching dates post-WWII. Laughing

The real nice coins to look for are those overdates from Norway and Sweden from the late 19th to early 20th C. I found a couple at the last show. Very Happy To my eye, it appears they used a punch on my 1912/11 because I don't see evidence of a double-hubbing elsewhere. Confused
