I'm simply posting this because I like how it photographed. Very Happy
The color is pretty true; I really like the toning these copper coins take.
They are quite distinctive and must be due to some trace impurity in the copper or alloy. Confused

They also managed to put a lot of detail into such a small (15mm) coin...impressive die work to say the least! At full resolution, you can see evidence of the shoulders on the die tools--click the pic.

A small die crack or lint between the NI on PENNI?

Coop, good eye! Very Happy I also spotted something minor within the P in PENNI.
There usually isn't much to be found on the Finland occupation coins, but there are a few exceptions:

It looks like it was not a good day, for the one who punched the "2", and "6"!
very interesting coins, the kind I tend to pick up when I was checking the roreign coins dish, many years ago. I like these "oddities".

Kurt,, you pose a very tough challenge for my new camera! Of course, I have only plugged in the batterys, and turned it on, to see if they will work, and it lit up. now to read the books that came with it! looks like I'll be busy for a while!. hope you all are still around when I finish, and learn to use it. Wink

Thanks everyone...I think I've fine-tuned my coin pics pretty well. At least for copper coins, that is! Laughing All the same, I spend about 30min on each photo in post-processing to true the contrast/color balance and sharpen for a "museum look". The variety pics are from a guy in Finland...I'm looking for those coins, the repunches are amazingly off. Laughing

Something interesting about Tsarist Finland coins is the complete lack of overdates, while there are many for Denmark, Norway, and Sweden during this time. Apparently, the Russian minting practices did not involve re-using dies from previous years? Confused I should note they were generally better at rendering detail in their dies than Coins of Norway and Sweden at this time.
