This is a coin I picked up at this weekend's show, showing the date in two lighting angles. The protruding corner of the 7 is obvious, with the diagonal showing up clearly under the second lighting angle. The position of the date matches other 1858/7 coins I've seen.

Nice shots, Kurt! They will be the ultimate goal of my efforts, to learn to take photos of coins, to post.I'll have to decide on asingle application to do the work.
Did you get my email in time?

Dick, thanks for the compliment on my photos...I really appreciate that. Very Happy

And yes--I did see your email, and I found a couple undergraded KGV cents. Not at quite the steal of that other dealer, but pretty good--so I didn't get as many. I'll fill you in soon with an email.

I also found a few other overdates as well as more crazy RPDs from Colombia Laughing

we'll be looking forward to seeing them!
BTW what do you use for your photography? I mean which program, Gimp, Photoshop, or any of the many others? I am going to remove some of the applications that I have, and concentrate on one. Possibly PS 7.0, For the overlays, etc. "Too many irons in the fire"!

Dick,
I'm pretty much use Photoshop exclusively--a very capable program even with a bit of a learning curve. I think it's good to concentrate on one program and master it, just as Coop has done with his work. Very Happy

kurt, I think Coop has the 5.5. I have copied some of his posts, and have tried to make head-way, but there are just too many terms, and I get confused. then just shut it down, I'll get it one day but it will take time.
