600 pounds for something like that? For a country that has been around for about 1200 years, One would think by now they would do it right! I would rather have a slightly used 1877 IHC!

Where are you getting 600 pounds?? And as far as doing it right, everybody makes mistakes, including THEM, US, HIM, HER, YOU and ME.

The mint's last major error, in 1983, involved the production of 2-pence coins that accidentally said "new pence" instead of "two pence." They typically sell today for more than 200 pounds eachquote]
Sorry about the 600. It should have been 200. My eyes aren't what they used to be, even without the existing problem.
As far as mistakes, who makes mistakes? I thought everyone was perfik! Shocked

Still makes me wonder how they make these. It must mean they use a dateless master or galvano and add dates somewhere along the process. Not like the flow used in the US.

Unless the date was supposed to be on the edge.

Oh.... there was one on ebay that almost got $600. Seems a lot if they made 100,000 of these. Smile Notice the other similar items links show they already might be dropping.

I believe the date was supposed to have been placed in the field area, which is currently blank. I read of this in the CCN paper, which I receive. The mint decided to let them circulate, as is. BTW, the article was not in the CCnews. It must have been on line.

Re the date, again I believe it is still added to the working hub. they also use the "single squeeze" process. I have seen a lot of rpd, mpd, MD, etc on the cents. I don't see much of the other deniominations.
