1969 Variation? Cut "9"

I'm curious about the date on this 1969 Canadian Cent. The second nine on the first pic has a more acute upright cut at the bottom of the "head" than on a normal one. I haven't been able to find this as a variation. Is it one or just an anomaly?

Post mint damage. It looks like the area of the second 9 of the date took a hit, and that's why the difference in appearance.

That would be my assessment, as well. Had it been a variety, I'm sure Rick would have noted it,and put it in with the rest, in his guides.

ikandiggit, I don't remember if i welcomed you aboard the forum, but this will make it official. I see you in several places, and wasn't sure. Your wheats will be well received, ( the varieties), and this is the place to find them.

Coop, that is nice! I haven't been doing much with the Canadian cents, lately. Too busy in the hunt for wild indians! It would be very nice to find a bucket full of them, like "ikandiggit". He didn
't actually "find" it. I a friend opf his who is a dealer, and collector/hoarder, has a bucket fuull, and he will have a chance at them. I hope he finds some nice ones there.

That is pretty cool! I have about 40 rolls of Unc. 1962's in my hoard! I was going to sell the rolls but now.... All I really need is a couple of these, one for myself and one to sell and maybe if I don't have to open I'll the rolls, I'll sell them.

I hate dilemmas!

US, or Canadian? The US have been very slow in showing, but there are some really nice ones there. Don't be too hasty.

Canadian. I bought approx. 24,000 cents from a dealer/friend of mine. They're dated from 1937 to 1967 with a few BU rolls of 1982's. There's about 100 rolls in total with a couple of BU rolls from the 40's and 50's. I've been posting some of the finds (nothing major, yet) on canadiancoppercoins site. My friend has had these sitting in his garage for about 20-25 years and most of the hoard has had the keys and semi-keys pulled but none of the errors because he was never interested in them.

In addition to this, earlier in the year I bought, in total 20,000 wheats. I've gone through most of them. Again, no keys or semi-keys but some nice BU dates and a few errors.

That seems to be the story of my collecting. I haveabout 40 boxes of solid date rolls, (wheats), and they are listed as to which rolls, and MM is located. Then the LMC's are in another area, with the boxes of square tuybes I bought, (7 otf them so far). They are also by solid date, but each box runs by date, as in the folders. they are stored there, until I go thru them, and have filled the tube. then it goes into a penny box, etc. My Canadiadn are the same way, except thePL, Proof sets are in flips, and go into the 3-ring binders, again by date, with the erroer/varieties in order. There is where the uncirculated, mint wrapped cents also go. As in yours, mine are '37 to date, in both folderd, as well as in tubes. Mt IHC are in folders, and tubes, with all the RPD/MPD in one separate place, again in order. Once I get enough time, i plan on making a photo inventory of the RPD/MPD', and any DDO/DDR's there. I won't even try to do the US, or the Canadians. Just toomany. My safe is full, so I made a 'book-case for the 3-ring notebooks, and they look like the rest of my reference books, until yo pull one. then the coins are there to view. The shelves are made of 9-ply sides, and shelves, due to the weight. Sorry about the "Cooks guided Tour", but it happens!. I, of necessity use a scope for all viewing, etc, one is for the photos, and the other is a 20/40X which works with a camers, and provides a nice latge view, on the 19' monitor. Using the 40X, I get each digit of the date, "Dead center". It doesn't help much on the MPD, because it is hard enough, just seeing the "denticles".
I hope you had as nice a Christmas "get-togather/family reunion", as I did. It will be one to remember
