One of the best examples I can come up with concerning Doubled Dies on single hub dies are in the photo links below.
One photo shows a beautiful split serif on the N of Cent on the reverse of a 2004D Lincoln. The other photo is of the exact same N but turned in the light. Like magic the doubleing is gone. For that reason this coin is not a Doubled Die. Or is it?

I think you may be a victim of your own lighting. Often times when you use more than one light source, the two different directions in the light will cause separation lines to appear. I'm not sure whether that's the cause in your case, but it sure looks like it.

Chuck
I have been attempting to get enough light on the coin to eliminate shadows and golly dern darn if you are not correct again. I guess inorder to avoid more heart attacks finding all these Doubled Dies I will turn one light off, deal with the shadows and consentrate on finding just the real Doubled Dies. Thanks

Keep at it and you'll find something soon enough.

Don't be embarrassed either. We were all there at one time or another, learning as we went along.

Look at it this way... think of all the time you're saving and experience you're gaining by asking questions here. This site is truly a benefit to the variety coin collector.

I wish I had something like this to help me when I was starting out.
