jfines69, you mean that zooming will make it so? LOL!
Actually, I didn't see it until it was, soaked in WD-40, Rinsed with Awesome,,and distilled water, then worked over with a hawthorn, then some TLC with an old shaving brush, with the bristles cut off to 1/4". That is when I saw it, and posted it.
They confirmed it on CCRS, so now I am the proud owner on at least one each of the 1858, 1859/8, and the 1859-N9. All three with holes.

Dick,

Isn't that how it works, you find a neat variety but it's a coin someone just had to hole. Wink

I've found a few neat IHCs that had the start of a hole. It's almost like someone started drilling them and had mercy on the coin. Maybe when it was done they had no electric drill and slowly did it by hand and decided to finish later but never got around to it Smile

Ed, Yep, that is about the size of it.
I have seen ppsted images of several different good varieties, that some one "just had' to poke a hole in it. Didn't make any difference if it was with a gun, or drill, or just a plain old hammer and nail. Even it didn't make any difference if the nail was square, or round.
The 1858 that I mentioned, must have been used for a button, because there are two holes, carefully drilled in the center portion, as if to be sewn on, like a button. Some of the old "long-handled drawers" use to have big buttons on them. The ones with the long slit. Not the "flappers". Speaking of them, I'll bet there are not many who have ever seen the "slippers".

Could be. i sure would like to have another one just like it, but sans the holes. It would really be a "keeper"! I paid $50 bucks for it, just to be able to say I have an large Canadian cent, 1858. They are worth $60.00 in VG-8, (without the hole(s).
