Nice bold doubled eye on this 48P. I see no reference to this die. Is it a known variety or is it new? Thanks in advance.

Definitely a nice Class 4 doubled die. I have two other different doubled eyelids on 1948P cents, but they aren't near as strong as that one. I believe your coin is a new discovery as I have not seen any reference to other doubled eyelids for this date. We need to get it put on the site if you are interested in sending it in to me or Chuck. The only thing we need to do is make sure Chuck doesn't have one of these in the coppercoins master collection. It is poosible he may have one, but just hasn't put it on the site yet. As soon as we hear from him on this, we can decide what to do with your coin....OK?

Hi Bob, thanks for the reply. I will wait to hear from Chuck. I am putting together a few coins for him to see so if he wants to see this one, I will throw it in also.

I put questionable coins into a 2X2 and label them if I feel it may be necessary to find later or send on for atribution.

Lo, be advised, Chuck likes for the coins to be in plastic flips.
(the staples ... ouchy) (that's not to say, he will not take em that way)
