MDS markers
Obverse
Die scratches NE-SW on obverse. Die gouge east of mintmark. Northeast punching shows stronger in later die states. Several die scratches show around date area with a few scratches above the date. Two die cracks on shoulder above VDB. One running E-W and another longer one running N-S. Strong die scratch through T on LIBERTY to back of head.
Reverse
Die scratches on reverse in various directions with a longer one from right wheat lines to U on UNUM. Reverse is MDS.

LDS markers
Obverse
Diagonal die scratch from the T in LIBERTY to the back of the head. An L shaped die crack runs down the shoulder and turns right above the VDB. Old die scratches run NE from the beard. Reverse
A die scratch runs SE from the T in CENT. A die gouge from the rim next to the E of the motto. Old die scratches show around the upper left wheat tip and the C of CENT. Reverse is LDS.

A southwest spread shows as a lightly doubled upper serif and vertical bar with a longer pointed serif at the base of the primary mintmark, and a northwest punching shows as a partial extra curve on top of the primary mintmark.
