grading notes
Obverse
This year's cents are usually very well and very sharply struck with good design elements. Grade them accordingly.
Reverse
Branch mint cents this year tend to be a little weak in the wheat hairs. Expect some softness in this area with specimens as high as AU showing only weak separation in detail.

1912
this year in history...
- In January, plans are announced for a new $150,000 Brooklyn stadium for the Trolley Dodgers baseball team.
- On January 6th, New Mexico becomes the 47th U.S. state of the Union.
- Charles Addams, cartoonist, creator of the Addams Family was born on January 7th.
- On March 12th, Juliet Low founds the Girl Scouts in Savannah, Georgia.
- On April 10th, the Titanic begins her maiden voyage which will end in disaster five days later. 1,500 perish in the tragedy.
Specific notes about this year's cents...
- Production dropped this year in Philadelphia, but not enough to greatly affect the value of cents made this year. I have found that 1912P cents tend to be just a little harder to find than 1911 or 1913 cents, probably for this reason.
- Denver mint cents were made in smaller quantities this year as well, even though they are worth less than their 1911 counterparts.
- Planchet flaws that show a marked lack of proper alloy mix leaves many cents striped in appearance this year, which makes nice, red choice examples very difficult to find. This is the first year in which this is readily noticeable over a large group of specimens.
